Best Windows?
Let me have some opinions here about the best products based on experience. Originally, I was going to install my own windows but have decided not to after reading some posts. This doesn't seem to DIY to me. Anyway, which windows would be good for me? I live just south of Chicago, my house was built in 1958 and is a regular ranch with a basement. The walls are plaster and the exterior is lap siding (original). Eventually siding will be upgraded but what are good products for this region? THANX

Look at Marvin
We recently had the Marvin Infinity fiberglass windows installed and are very pleased. We have an older home & looked at & researched replacements, but were sold when we saw this window, for it doesn't have that "replacement window" look. Your mention of plaster walls indicates your home is older, too, and I suspect you're also looking for a window that's maintenance free, but not out of character with the age of your home. Don't know if these are the "best," but they have the same solid feel of the old windows, operate smoothly, and it's a great feeling knowing we'll never have to paint windows again.
