Question pivot hinges for french doors

I have an older home and I want to install french doors in the doorway between the living room and dining rooms. The wood frame around the doorway opening is about 6 inches wide and there is a notch cut-out at both top corners about an inch wide by 4 inches long where the doors pivot hinges used to be mounted. There are also 4 screw holes directly below these cut-outs in the floor where the bottom hinges were. I want to mount new french doors in the same way because this will have the doors centered in the framing, and also hide the cut-outs. However, I cannot find the necessary hinges. I tried the local Lowes, Home Depot, and they referred me to a "specialty" hardware store, who said they could special order hinges at a cost of about $200 per pair. Does anyone know what hinges I could use to mount the doors in the center of the framing so that the doors will swing open in both directions as on a pivot hinge? Thank you.
