please help me choose a window
I need to choose between Sears windows (not the top of the line, the downgraded version with less space between the glass) , the window from Champion Windows, and Window world. The price quote is for 12 fairly large windows on a home built in 1920.
sears is $7204
championwindow is $7600
window world is $4183

Marti,
You did not mention if quality or price is the most important factor. But from reading your post, it appears that price is your concern. If you allow price to dictate your choice of windows then remember this: "You get what you pay for and sometime's you don't get what you pay for".
I sent two replies to your request earlier on 09/21/05 about Champion 365 windows and gave you data from a quality window to compare all the other manufacture windows to it. You must use this data to determine your choice in addition to any bells and whistles that comes from each manufacturer. If any of the data is not available, then move on to another manufacturer.
Air infiltration is the most important concern and you would want to know what test procedures were used to test the window at the factory. You must do some research on your own as to what you require in a window.
Here are names of some quality windows: Pella, Anderson and Marvin. These companies products are well known in the Northeast. There are most likely other companys that have windows that compare to them but use the data to compare quality if price is an issue.

Windows
We just looked at Marvin's fiberglass replacement windows, Infinity. I was impressed with what I saw; I wouldn't look at vinyl, at least not for an old home where you need a better looking window. I think the price is competitive as well. Here is the website:

I agree-Look at Marvin
We just had the Marvin Infinity windows installed & they're great. I think that, once you see them, you'll be quite impressed. And I think you'll find they're quite fairly priced.
