Storm window catch broken
#1

Hi All, I have several aluminum storm windows that have broken spring catches, you know, those sliding catches that hold the window open. My local hardware store doesn't have the style I need. The catches appear to be made of die-cast zinc, not the newer nylon type.
Does anyone have any suggestions for sources of these catches?
The storm windows are probably about 40 years old, but are in good shape so I don't want to replace them.
Thanks!

The only place you migh find them is a glass or window shop that's been around for a while. I've been in business for 43 years and have many of those parts but I'm in NY.

Like Johnam said, a glass shop.
But aluminum storm windows?? You would be money ahead to simply replace the windows with vinyl or fiberglass units and get rid of the storm windows entirely.

Thanks for the replies!
Unfortunately, replacing the windows isn't an option right now. I will check with some of the older glass companies in the area for the catches.
Thanks again

Here's a few leads that may help.
Blaine Window & Door Co...They offer lots of replacements for storm door latches, pins etc.
Primeline Co.....Same as above
The problem with alot of these latches is that theres so damn many of them that it's hard to get the exact match. Maybe you can order yourself a catalog from one of them for future reference.
