Need help with magnetic stom windows
I just moved into a house with big, floor to ceiling single pane windows. Some of the windows have interior mounted plexiglass storms that are attached to the mullions via a magnetic connection. Metal strips are mounted on the mullions and sash, and there are U shaped magnetic strips fitted around the entire edge of the plexiglass panels. Installation is an absolute dream, just pop the top of the panel onto the strip, it sticks, kick the bottom of the panel towards the window, it sticks too, press in the middle and you are done.
Panels are light weight even when large.
Unfortunately, previous owners only did half the house.
Anyone know where I can get the magnetic clip modling that goes around the edges of the plexi panels? The magnetic clip molding is actually more shaped like a binder clip, u shaped but pinched in toward the open end of the u, so they hug the panels and don't fall off.

Unfortunately, previous owners only did half the house.

Finding "U" channels shouldn't be all that difficult, but the "pinched" part is probably something that you would have to do yourself once the channels are cut to length and installed on the plexiglas. Another thought -- rather than pinch them, maybe just a small bead of silicone to keep the channel in place.

Thanks for the reply, but.... I'm looking for a manufacturer of the clip/molding/whatever u want to call it. The ones I have are not "home-made". That is, the plastic clip/molding has the magnetic strip embedded in a pocket in the plastic, making for a really low profile and invisible installation. I've considered trying to cobble something togehter, but all the alternatives I can come up with don't have either the appearance or the ease-of-use as the originals. Help!
