Installing Windows in Winter

Is there any problems associated with installing windows in the dead of winter?

Yes. The installers get cold.

Other than that, there's no difference. It could be the quality of the work might go downhill as a result... I know that I sure do better work when I'm not freezing my fingers off. And as long as they aren't using latex caulking, there should be no other problems.

What about caulk - should we use a specific kind? Will it dry or cure?

Any kind but latex. That means you could use 100% silicone, or any of the petroleum distilate based types of caulking. Silicone will still extrude easily in cold temperatures, but you don't want to use silicone for your finish caulking- around siding or window trim. Silicone is not paintable, so that's where you'd want to use siding caulking that is the right color... such as OSI Quad or Geocel Pro Flex.
