After installing tile bifold door won't close
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue! My husband installed ceramic tile in our bathroom as well as a base trim. Now our linen closet bifold door won't shut (because the base trim is in the way). He thinks we should cut a chunk or notch out of the bottom of the door so the door will close but I think that will look unsightly. I thought that we should trim the door completely all the way up and down but he says there will be a large gap between the wall and the door (about an inch). He thinks the cut will be ugly as well. We don't know where to go from here, all doors seem to be a standard size width.
Thanks for any insight!

Can the tile base be removed and cut so that it butts up to the door rather than going BEHIND the door? You could also cut the door so that it fits between the tile, then install a cove moulding up each side to hide the large gap. Some bifold doors are normally trimmed this way, although many skip that trim piece, deeming it unnecessary.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I don't think removing the base trim will work but the suggestion about cutting and using trim to hide the gap is very helpful. We are concerned about cutting the door (1/2 inch on either side) because we are afraid it will chip and won't be a nice cut. We were going to take it to Home Depot to cut but are wondering if we should look for a place that would do a more precision job and what type of place would that be.
Thanks again, it was very helpful.
