Entry Door - Transom Hardware Location?

I'm preparing to put in my new framed entry door with single transom. The transom is operating and I need to attach the transom hardware (hinges, catch, chain or roller stay). My question is--where does the catch traditionally go? The transom is hinged at the bottom, so it obviously goes at the top, but should it be in the center of the transom or off to a side? I'd assume the center, but I cannot find a single picture or diagram for reference. The catch is the 'cupboard' style with the ring pull for a hook.

I'm hoping somebody here knows or has an old door in their home that they could take a look at. Thanks,

Brian

Generally the transom lock hook is centered in the opening. What type of stop mechanism do you have; rod and ball, sliding bar, etc? How many stop mechanisms is there, only one for the side or both sides?

I don't have a stop mechanism yet. I like the rod with the roller at the end, but I have to find one in the oil rubbed bronze finish (most are brass or bronze). Or, I may go with the chain--I don't like that as much.

I'd assume only one stop, on one side.j
