Do I Need A Special-Order Door

Hi:
I have a rough openning of 32" wide by 78.5" high. Can I buy a off-the rack prehung 30"-wide door (I saw that the required openning was 32x82) and trim the bottom frame and door? Or should I special-order one?
Thanks.

Is there a way to get to the rough header? Is it an interior door? If so, they probably only laid 2 2x4's down on top of a jack stud. If you can get to it, and remove the bottom header board via a reciprocating saw, and add it back on top, nailing it secure, you will gain the 1 1/2" you need for a normal size frame, + or-. It will be tight, but doable.
If the framework is inaccessible, or if they did their headers properly, then your recourse is to buy a 30" door and do the adjustments at the bottom by cutting the frame and the door. Good Luck with it!
