garage entrance to home "grade permitting"

Hi there,

Does anyone know what the max height is before you can't have a door in the garage whch leads into the house.

I was told that our new house cant have an entrance to the house from the garage b/c the elevation from the concrete to the door is too great. (yet others in on the street have similar heights.

thanks in advance,

Allen
p.s...... I'm in Ontario.

Don't know about the law, but I have an 8" high platform and then an 8" rise to enter from the garage into the house.

If the step out of the house to the garage is more than 8", then you need a landing, 3' X 3' or larger out of the house (the first thing you step on), and then a step or two (or more) to get to the garage floor. And the steps may have to be oriented parallel to the wall between the house and garage, depending on the depth of the garage, from the overhead door to the back wall (where the entrance to the house is).
