closet door question

I wnat to put up a folding closet door in one of the rooms in my house. I was wondering what the proper mounting depth would be for the sliding track. should I try to split the difference and line it up down the middle of the opening or should I be doing something else? My walls at the opening of this closet are 5 1/4 " thick.

If you're talking bi-fold doors, most of the ones I've seen (and/or have) are mounted about midway. You might stand the doors up in the opening at different locations and stand back to see how they look.
