Just got done getting an Andersen Renewal quote, and was semi-taken back by the cost. Im getting another quote tomorrow on regular vinyl windows (Certainteed Bryn Mawr II.....any opinions on these?), but right now the wife and I are debating exactly how good of an investment windows would be for us. We have 18 windows total, 6 sliding windows, 2 awning windows, and 10 casements. The average cost of an Andersen renewal window came out to ~650.00 installed. They will be replacing 20 year old Andersens, that are double pane but apparently only use dry-air between the panes, so they arent really providing much more insulation factor than single panes. Ive read a lot about the Andersen renewals, and Ive read that they are in fact very good windows (the samples he showed me proved that, sales pitch or not). My question is if its worth paying roughly double for the Renewals than for any other vinyl window (until I get an actual quote on a vinyl replacement, Im assuming 300.00/window installed, whcih I believe is a decent guesstimate). Has anyone here used Renewal by Andersen? Has anyone had the same debate as Im having? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated (yeah, we got the "you must order by xxx date" sales pitch, but in CT I need to order before 2/1 because they are running a no sales tax on energy efficient home improvement purchases..........that saves a good amount of $$$ in itself). Hi. I'm new to the forum. I'm looking to renovate the entire exterior of my house Roof/Siding/Windows. The company that we are thinking of using is recommending we use Quantum2 vinyl windows. (I believe that they are a high end Kensington product). I'm not very versed in windows, so if they are not Pella or Anderson, I don't really know what I'm getting in terms of quality. The quantum windows seem like a good product, and offer a lifetime warranty. But I'm reluctant to go with a product that I never heard of. Also, I'm thinking when it eventually comes time to sell our house (probably not for some time but you never know) I think the potential buyer would like to see a familiar product as well. Have any of you heard of/had a good experience with Quantum2 windows by Kensington? Am I correct in thinking I should lean toward the more well known manufacturers? Thanks for the help. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
