In the process of replacing an existing older patio door. I have looked at several brands and styles but like most things when you see so many you sometimes get confused. I have looked at Peach Tree, Pella, Andersen as well as a few others. Just wanted to get some thoughts on what are the better end products when considering primarily efficiency and cost. The home is located in Chicago where temperature changes are as frequent as the cost of fuel which we know how that has been going lately. Please advise.

Well, in my opinion, you have looked at three of the better if not best brands available. You say it is a patio door, but didn't say if it is a slider, double door, fixed single/opening single door.
For slider, Pella is a good and easy install with good seals and balance. Newer Peachtree's may have fixed the feather seal problem I noted in my daughter's in Denver, not sure. JeldWen is another fine manufacturer. They all make clad doors with wood on the inside if you like, which looks warmer and makes the door solid as a rock.
Post back for more information. And remember, Chicago has two seasons......Winter........and the 4th of July. I worked at ORD the winter of '93 on the ramp.

Thanks for the info. The patio door is a slider and I intend to replace with the same. I am leaning towards the Peach Tree becuase it appears to be more solid in terms of the framing from what I could see and they all pretty much offer the same features with the exception of Pella who has a few others. I was planning to have an oak interrior on the door but in order to cut cost I'm thinking otherwise.

Pella-Vinyl Slider
I purchased a Pella Vinyl Slider recently @ Lowes, and have been real pleased, went with vinyl because of a dwindling budget, just replaced windows as well. Slider came with Low-E glass, Argon gas fill, tempered glass. We love it.
