Long story short, my son busted out the glass on out sliding glass door. My landlord said that he would pay half if I bought a French door, but I have to install it myself. He said that Home Depot has them for around $300, so it wont be an expensive door.
My question is, just how large of a project am I looking at? I have never done this and don't want to get in over my head and I want to do a good job.
One thing that I am worried about is the runner (?) (aluminum strip at bottom of the Fench doors) is longer than the little concrete step. Can the runner be modified?
I can upload any pictures in needed.
Are there any websites that may help me?
Thanks for any assistance...

Chuck: size for size, the french door will fit in the same opening as the removed slider, and it is a pretty straight forward installation. Now as far as the threshold plate, it will face outward, now, since you are installing an outward opening door. Depending on the gap left, you will want to install a piece of pressure treated lumber cut to fit under this threshold to support it and dress it up a bit. Post back if we can help further.
