Changing Front Door?

Hello,

Could someone tell me if it is possible to change an existing front entry door, with one side panel, into a new steel door with two side panels?

We've just purchased a pre-owned home and would like to make the front entrance a little brighter. There is room on the wall for another side panel, I just don't know if this is possible to do without it being a huge headache.

I look forward to your responses.

Thanks!
Jo

Jo: It is possible, but just because there is room, will it be symmetrical to the area from the inside and outside? In increasing the size of the door opening, you will have to remove the old and install an new header to cover the entire opening including the side lights. Now, this will require alot of carpentry work, so make sure you are up to it, as the siding will have to come off and some of the interior sheetrock or wall covering will need to be removed.
Another alternative is to install a smaller door with smaller side lights (not recommended), as it would hamper ingress with large furniture. Post back if we can help no matter what you decide to do. Good luck!
