Header question

I am doing some remodelling and have a few questions

1. Interior French door - New installation on the main floor of a Colonial. Do I nee a header and if so what dimension?

2. Exterior slider to replace windows - What size header will be required in this instance?

Thanks

On any opening, especially as large as a french door, you will need a header. The header should be made in a sandwich using 1/2" osb as the meat, and 2x10's as the bread. It should extend past the opening at least 3" on either side, and must be supported by jack studs that reach the floor.
