Automated windows ?

Anyone know where I can find an automated window with some sort of actuator? I'm thinking a double window that cranks out rather than a louver style.

Is there such a thing?

I'd like to turn on an attic fan -- really a window fan blowing out the third story -- with a switch, but would rather not have dampers exposed on the front of the house...

Electric Operators

Many window companies can provide a two-wide casement that opens via a switch on the wall or remote control. Truth hardware http://www.truth.com/2006/catalog/co...0Operators.pdf makes a motorized system that many manufacturers use for such a purpose. A warning though - I'm not keen on motorized controls for casements. They're fine for awnings (hinged on the top) but NOT very practical (in my opinion) for casements (hinged on the side). The reason: gravity wants to pull casements down and out of square over the years. If you use most motorized controls on windows, the window has to remain in the unlocked position, which means gravity can do its thing over time. With awning windows it's a non-issue. As for specific brands, pretty much any wood window company can offer it, and many vinyl companies too.

Thanks

Tru_blue, thanks for the information, especially the recommendation (or not) on casement windows. I appreciate your expertise -- the kind of advice we don't get from advertising.
