I have removed a small hall closet(2x2) and opened up that space into the bathroom. The hall closet door was right next to the bathroom door. I am now considering replacing those 2 doors with a pocket door. The extra space that a pocket door affords would be a huge benefit in the bathroom. My concern is that the hall bathroom is the main childrens bath and the door is opened and closed many, many times throughout the day. Has anyone ever used a pocket door as a main bathroom door that gets used frequently? What are the pro's and con's of doing this? thxs

When you say pocket doors I assume you are talking about the types of doors that slide inside of a wall. If you are, you will have to take out one side of the wall, and the studs, put up a header beam, get a building permit, get it inspected when done, and then, it probably will only last a couple of years before it needs repair, especially with several kids. I would put in a regular door. Just my thoughts. Good Luck
