Lock idea needed (For Garage Windows)
#1

I need suggestions for my garage windows in case power goes out and i can't get inside my garage. I do not have a side door. Remote control garage door is only way in. Windows open from "inside" the garage. Is there something I can do so i am able to lock/open windows from outside but concealed from anyone knowing this? Some kind of lock or ??? I really appreciate all suggestions.

Most automatic garage doors that I've seen have a manual trip rope hanging down somewhere along the track close to the motor on an elbow of sorts.
There are special keyed cylinders available (a Likely source is the manufacturer of the opener) that are mounted through the door near the top and are wired to this trip mechanism. If your opener ever dies for some reason, you'd only need a key to open this lock and pull the trip to manually open the door.
I had occassion once to drill a 7/8" hole through a garage door centered about a foot down from the top. Using a straightened coat hanger with a hook bent into the end and with patience, I was able to hook the rope and pull the trip. Then the door opens manually.
Then the trip can be reset once the problem is resolved.
Hope this helps

Whoever moved this, should move it back or else close down the whole home security section...because most security questions are related to doors and windows...in my opinion.
I would suggest that these windows could be locked and unlocked externally using an Era key lockable window security bolt. It is flush mounted (mortised) and can either use a standard or individual key.

I believe moving this post was a mistake as well.
A Locksmiths business is security, be it doors, windows or any other entry point into a building.
