exterior door

can anyone give me some advice on what i can do to a wood front door to keep it from asorbing so much heat without replacing.the door is not insulated & i am in the process of repainting & have striped door for priming.about 1/2 of day it gets full sun & before i prime & paint i was wondering if there may be something i can do to door before refinishing.
thanks for any advice.

Lighter paint will tend to reflect the heat, but if it gets direct sun all day, then your battle may be uphill. Of course prime it first, then use a good quality paint. Building a stoop or small porch with a roof would help keep it cooler.
