measuring replacement windows...
Hi I'm "gutting" my 4th house and this time I'm going to do the replacement windows myself. The walls are stripped, the windows clearly visible.Should measurements be the insided of the frames of the old windows (the parts with the old pulleys)?
Since its all open I could pull the frames, but then have to do additional trim work on exterior, all but 3 windows can be accessed from lower roofs or ground (no ladders for me thank you). So I will be doing some from the inside....
Any good links or suggestions appreciated.

Measuring for replacement windows is very important - they're Not Returnable once ordered. Rather than try to explain here - I would suggest you go to a big box store and pick up one of their brochures on installing replacement windows or go to a windows supplier web site to find the same clear information. I would make a specific suggestion but don't want to risk sounding like an advertisement. They are very clear about exactly where to take your measurements. Additionally, if you're installing replacement windows rather than new construction windows, you can intall all of them from the interior of the home.
