Use what I've got or buy new door?
I purchased the wrong size door, a 30x80 instead of 32x80. The door is to be installed as a garage side-door, therefore I don't necessarily need the width because I can use the overhead garage door for moving stuff in and out. However to make the door fit will require re-trimming the door. Can't decide whether to try and resell the door (it was a special order therefore not returnable) or retrofit the frame.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Doug

Doug: Welcome to the forums! I can't imagine a 2-6 x 6-8 door being a special order, but if you haven't finished the garage yet, you have the option of framing in the opening and using the smaller door. Like you say, you have the big door to move things in and out, and unless this goes into your house, it shouldn't present a problem. Now, if the garage is finished, you will have to deal with the outside siding and any interior finish you have applied. Post back if we can help as you go along.

Larry,
Thanks for the advice. The project is a remodel so the door framing is in place and I will need to remove and replace the outside trim along with adding to the inside framing, fortunately there's no interior finish.
The door has a window with built-in sliding shades which is why Home Depot won't refund it.

Don't forget, you will have to close in the opening by extending your siding, so take that into consideration. You may be better off to bite the bullet and buy the correct size door for the opening and try to sell the narrower one. If it is good quality, you shouldn't have any problem doing that with all the remodeling going on.

This wouldn't happen to be a 9 pane glass interior door, would it?
If it is, and you live in northern Mass, maybe we can trade; I just unloaded a 32 x 80 door, but I bought a 30 x 80.
You are not alone.
