Exterior door frame leaking water

We have a steel door with a sliding window, opens to the inside, which in heavy rain leaks water - from the top of the door frame - there is no storm door. There are some water stains on the frame at the top and on the outside we don't see any stripping over the top of the frame but it is hard to tell because of the stucco - The house is made of Stucco (from 1938) and is in Atlantic Canada in humid/wet climate near the ocean (which is probably not the best climate for stucco, considering it is peeling)
Can this be easily fixed?

Rather than assuming it is the door that is leaking, you might consider that the source of the leak could be coming from someplace way above the door, but the water is finding it's way into the home once it reaches the door. Investigate anything above the door that might be causing a leak.

If the leak has just recently began to occur, think of anything you had done to the house recently that could have created a leak above the door.
