Cutting Plexi-Glass

Hi:
Before bitter cold winter hits, we've been working a Window-covering, one of which is cutting Plexi-Glass. We cut Plexi by using 'plexi-cutter,' however it's VERY hard to cut appropriately, particularly around corners in correct angle.

Already, we wasted some of the plexi-glasses due to thin to mid-thickness that aggravates to cut accurately in the first place.

Is there any good idea for cutting Plexi-Glass(clear) successfully, ... even semi-successfully?

Thanks for your help in advance.

It can be cut with a table saw, or a saber saw, but fine tooth blades should sharp. There is a balance of cutting too fast, plastic melts, or too slow, plastic cracks. Straight lines are best done by scoring. You could cut your straight lines to right angles, then cut curves with a saw.

A jig saw is often called a saber saw. IMO it would be better than using your skil saw. Make sure you use a fine tooth blade and with a jig saw be sure to keep the pexiglass stable while cutting.

Both table saws and jig saws [sabre saw] will be in the tool dept at either lowes or HD.

Depending on the thickness of the plexiglas, if running it through a table saw, only cut half through the sheet with the first pass, and turn the sheet over to finish the cut. It is alot smoother and since it melts alot, you can clean the edges alot easier.
