double doors were double bored
Just had double doors delivered from Home Depot and both doors were double bored. What do I do with the extra bore?
Is this common? I thought one door got the knob and deadbolt while the other door only got a knob
Thanks for any help

I suppose so they could be 'universal'- LH/RH opening. Besides, I would think it look odd if you had 2pieces of hardware on 1 door and only 1 on the other. The 'blank' could get just a dummy knob to math the top deadbolt...unless Im wrong...!
.
check here.. they mention 'dummy' handles..for dbl doors...

Someone messed up. Either it was ordered as a double bore on both doors or the manufacturer bored them in error. One door is fixed by top and bottom pins and a dummy knob set, while the "active" door will have your knob and deadbolt set. I would check the original order from HD and see how it was worded. They should be able to swap out the fixed door panel for one with no bore without you having to decorate it. Your deadbolt won't work correctly anyway with a bore opposite it.

Thanks for the helpful responses everyone; you guys were right about the doors not working properly.
I called HD and it turns out the manufacturer didn't double bore the other door, some dope working at the store did it!
