Need help putting a doorknob on!

ok i was painting my door and removed my doorknob (a kwikset one) and i have absoulutly no clue how to put it back together can someone please give me some instruction or somthing. I have the door knob in about 9 peices please someone help me!!

I'm not sure about 9 pieces, the 3 major ones are the latch that goes in the side of the door - just slips in, held by 2 screws. You want the slanted edge of the plunger to face the door opening, so when it hits the striker plate it will go in allowing the door to shut - once shut it will pop back out to secure the door.

That leaves the 2 knobs and what's attached to them. The side [knob] with no screw holes will go on the outside side of the door with the other knob attaching from it from the inside side of the door. Start both long screws before tightning. The long rod and the threaded tubes the screws go into will slide thru the latch part you installed first.

It is actually easier to assemble than it is to describe how. Anything done wrong will present itself by not working Just disassemble and try again.

Here's a little trick I use when installing a Kwikset lock. When inserting the outer know through the latch, push in on the latch part sticking out from the side of the door. That takes tension off the spring, and allowes it to slip in easily. Good luck.
