door jamb and split jamb widths
Hello All.
I have standard 2X4 framing with 1/2 sheet rock. I am trying to finish trim my pocket door installation. Does anyone have any insight as to how wide my door jamb should be? 4 5/8"? 4 3/4"? Also, the pocket door installation guide says that i need to have 2" for the clearance. Should I then make my split jambs 1/2 or my door jamb minus 1" on each side? (i hope that makes sense
)
Thanks for your insights!!!

The far side jamb should be whatever the wall thickness is, usually 4 9/16, unless it is a plumbing wall. The near side will be the door width -clearance, to the finished wall side.

Look for L.E. Johnson products
The Johnson company makes a jamb kit specifically for pocket doors. It has the pieces already ripped and the one solid jamb. Try to find it. Your local Home Depot or Lowe's should carry it
