hanging a door

hanging the door is not my issue. ITs the spot on the opening where the door knob goes in. How do you get it cut nicely? Do you need a special drill bit or do you chisel it out?

You can buy a special kit that includes both the large hole saw for the knob hole and a spade bit to do the hole in the edge for the latch. You will have to do a little chisel work to mortise the latch plate flush both on the door and for the striker plate on the jamb. The knob set should have a template for locating the centers of the holes.

Black & Decker also makes a kit:

The picture shows just the alignment tool, but I'm sure it comes with the hole saws, too.
