Pine vs MDF door
I'm looking to replace the hollow core 6p doors in my house. They will be painted and one of the primary reasons for this change is to reduce noise. The most economical options are solid pine or solid MDF doors, is one more desireable than the other?

Masonite doors paint well! They can be punctured or scarred with abuse, it's hard to repair a damaged masonite panel door [especially the ones with the faux grain]
A wooden panel door paints ok [takes more work] and because the panels float you can wind up with 'cracks' around the edge of the panel [during dry weather] that have no paint. They can take more abuse and can be repaired easier than masonite.
