Need a 30X60 six panel door
I am installing a pocket door for access to the space under a stairwell. I would prefer the door to be a solid, six panel door, as that is the theme throughout the rest of the downstairs.
I purchased a pocket door frame from Lowes, and I am certain that I can cut it to the height that I need, which is 60 inches, and then rebuild it attain the structural integrity, as before. I also bought a solid, six panel pine door and figured I could just cut it off the bottom, but once I took a hard look at it I now don't think that is a viable solution. So I'm now in a quandary about what to with this situation.
Certainly, this has been a situation that others have had to deal with, so I am hoping that some of you may have some suggestions for me that would help. I realize that I could just cut a plain, hollow door and then plug the bottom, but then it would just be a plain door. Push comes to shove, that's probably what I will do.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Randy: Yeah, you will have problems trying to keep all 6 panels in the mix. Do you think it would be viable to cut the door below the top set of panels, then cut the bottom to fit the opening? The only other options I see would be to have a door custom built by a cabinet door maker, or make one yourself, but then you get into having to go shopping for new tools....what a drag. Good luck with it.

Chandler,
That is an excellent idea. I don't know why I didn't see that. I guess I was too focused on keeping it a six panel door. I've already taken some measurements and it should work fine. This would make it a four panel, but that would be OK. At least it would still resemble the other doors somewhat, and it wouldn't just be a plain door.
Thank you so much for suggesting it.

BTW...I am looking into having one custom built, but I'm sure it will be pricey. Unless it's around $100.00, which is what I paid for the door I bought at Lowe's, I don't think I'll be selecting that option.
