door jamb width too wide....

Ok guys, need some help here....I had an addition built on to my existing home and the contractor did not remove the outer sheathing on the wall going into the new room. Now, trying to install the prehung door has become a problem since the opening needs to be larger than the "standard 4-9/16 width" that all the major stores stock. Should I try and make a whole new frame, or should I try and piece together a new one, using the "hinge" side of the prehung door and adding some wood to the other side?

Most lumberyards will order doors with any jamb width, but it should not be too hard to make extensions to fit your needs. It can be done with a circular saw if you are good, but a table saw makes quick work of it.

I figured it can't be too hard to make the extensions, I have a table saw, so basically I'd just have to rip a couple pieces to fit and then put on the casing, right?
