I'm so frustrated I could scream. We have 30" wooden double doors now. Because of the hot afternoon sun, they have had it. Want to put in fiberglass double doors. Can't find prestained fiberglass doors with oval glass, doors are too small. Easiest double doors to find that are all ready stained ready to install are 36". My question is, the wall where the doors are is 91" wide. Is that wide enough to install prehung 36" double doors? Obvious question is why don't we replace with 1 door and sidelites? Because my husband insists on having double doors, ugh! Any insight you can give me would really, really be appreciated.

Altering an existing door openeing can be expensive(if enlarging) and messy, but it can be done. And 91" is plenty to install a double 36" door set. Fiberglass would be my recommendation for a door facing the sun, but it must be a light color, or you will have the same problem. Storm doors with reflective film can improve the problem, but then you may not be able to see the doors, apparently important to hubby.
