What kind of window for ac/fresh air options

I only have one standard window in my kitchen. What kind of window can have one part popped out for an ac and another part openable for fresh air when AC isn't needed. Sure they make them, but what do you call them??

I am not aware of such a window, but the A/C can be run to bring in fresh air only.

Therma-Tru Unfinished Fiberglass Exterior Doors

Anyone have any experience with unfinished fiberglass exterior doors? We live in Central Alabama and our house faces west. We receive direct sunlight in the spring, summer, and fall and typically, direct water from thunderstorms. This home has had 5 front doors in its 25 years of life. We purchased a Therma-Tru fiberglass exterior door unit 18 months ago and installed it. Our painter followed the manufacturers directions to stain the unfinished fiberglass. Now the stain is just peeling off. Company says painter did something wrong and they have no liability. Painter willing to try something else...but what? Wife loved the stained look and wants to keep it. I want something that does not need sanding/restaining every year. Thanks.Read More

5/8" sheetrock on pocket door kit?

Are there any special considerations when using 5/8" sheetrock over a pocket door frame (kit)? Here's the scenario: I am framing a utility room (furnace and hot water heater) and code calls for 5/8" sheetrock. To the left of the utility room, I'm framing a small pantry. Because of some nearby duct work, using a pocket door for the pantry solves a number of problems. The door would have to slide to the left--within the wall of the utility room. So, I'd have to hand 5/8" sheetrock on one side of the utility room. I wasn't sure of the small slats of the kits can handle the 5/8". Thanks.Read More
