Door installation - quote reasonable?
Hi everyone,
I'm having French doors installed in an existing exterior brick wall. I'll need a hole cut in the brick, plus a gas line moved and electrical moved. One quote I got was for $9700.00, and this included installing two light fixtures (that I provide) outside. Does this seem like a lot?
The door itself will be an Andersen Frenchwood, ~$2K, so the whole door project will be close to 12k.
Thanks,
Robb

Cost of labor and materials vary from area to area, so it would be difficult to hazard a guess on what costs would be in your area. It is best to get a minimum of three quotes from licensed and insured contractors.

It seems a lot to me. 2k+ for materials and 8K for labor. If you are dealing with a GC and he is subbing out the gas and electric, he's probably adding a pass through fee on their cost.
The best advice I can give is to get several bids. You might want to think about acting as a GC yourself. This is a small project, you could get electrical and gas bids separate from the door install.
