Make your own window?

I've got an odd shaped wall that I'd like to have a non-operational window in (there's currently no window in it). I'd like it to follow the lines of the wall. Is it possible to somehow cut a piece of glass or plastic and make a frame to create a basic window? Is there anywhere I could get more information about this?

What you propose is not all that difficult, if you understand woodworking. Build a basic frame fron 2x lumber, add stops to contain the glass, maybe some decorastive molding. But I would suggest you find a local glass shop to make an insulated glass for the window. Even better, maybe an insulated stained glass window.

I have to replace a similar unit on a sales home tomorrow. As JustBill says, go see a glass place and have them either order or make you a piece of insulated glass to fit the opening. Mine is a trapezoid, so I wouldn't even attempt to do anything but R&R the existing panel. Luckily it is a fixed glass in a cedar framing, so it should be simple.
