Locked Kwikset Door Lock

Hi..new to the forum. My little girl locked our bathroom door(turned the knob in the back) and closed the door. Is there any way to open the door with out removing the entire lock? I went to home depot and lowe's and they mentions to just push this little button on the side of the handle/cylinder, but my lock doenst have it...what can or should i do?? thank you.

On the outside of the door knob there should be a little hole in the knd of it. Stick the end of a coat hanger in the hole and it will release the lock. Now, several of the newer locks for bathrooms do not have the little hole in the end of the handle, but instead have a little slit on the handle where it goes into the door. You can poke some thing in there and release the lock also. And yes, if all fails call a locksmith. You have to take the knob off from the inside. Good Luck

If she "turned" the knob in the back, using a coathanger to push the button may not work, as the mechanism must be turned again to unlock it. You may be able to find a "key" for this at your hardware store or big box. It will be round, with a hook on one end and a flat space on the other end. The flat will be inserted and turned to release the lock.

A very narrow flat bladed screwdriver will also work. With a Kwikset, you will have to turn the mechanism inside the lock, pushing won't do it.
