Question Window separating on one side from improper opening it aapears

I found that one of my kids appears to have tried to open a window that instead of square in the window sill now sits level on one side and separated by about 1.5 inches on the other. By separated I mean the bottom of the window wood has separated from the side piece by about 1.5 inches. I tried to press the long side back into the bottom with little or no luck at this point and am looking on tips on how to force the side back into square with the bottom. The glass is intact, it is the wood that has separated only on the one side.

Further information - continuation of quest

The lower sash is separated from the stile as I see it is called, as you face the window, on the lower left corner of the window
