does this type of hinge or door exist?

I have an opening that contains a water heater. I want to put a louvre type of door in front of it, but cannot use the interior frame of the opening because the water heater uses that space. Is there a type of louvre door (opening needs ventilation) or hinge that is afixed to the OUTSIDE of the frame so that I don't have to reframe the opening?

Thanks for any info.

regards, pete

If the door opens out the hinges will be on the outside, if the door opens in the hinges will be on the inside. Not sure what else you are looking for. There are bardining room door type hinges that allow a door to swing both ways. Some mount in the floor/top jamb.

Are you trying to mount this door like an inset cabinet door with the hinges going from the face of the door to the edge of the jamb?
