vinyl sash jams

In my old house the sash cords etc where all gone and I found in a local lumber yard that is no longer in business a vinyl sash jam kit that was absolutely the nuts. I believe you pulled the stop out, the sash cord roller and then put each side onto the upper and lower sashes and set the combo into the hole, I believe tacked it with an aluminum nail at top and bottom and it was done. Have any of see such a kit or know who might still make them etc?

Was a great product, did all the windows in a couple days.

Marvin sells them and I think there are plenty of other brands out there too. Whatever lumber yard you go to will probably have their favorite brands that they sell and are dealers for, so it's kind of pointless for us to recommend brands that they might not have or be able to get. If you know where you intend to shop, your best bet is to call and ask them directly.

If these are the type that provide the tension on the sashes with a spring loaded or vinyl fin parting strip (the piece that separates the sashes), you may find the tension changing with changing temperatures and humidity. If they have springs that balance the weight of the sashes, they are much better.
