Basement Block Glass Windows

I'm researching replacing 4 basement windows with block glass windows. I have gotten two quotes and the costs are almost identical. One contractor quoted the installation using mortar and the other quoted using silicon. Can I get someone to give their opinon on which one is better? What are the pros and cons of using either mortar and silicon? I have priced out all the materials for doing it my self, and compared to the quotes, it looks like this project is one to use a contractor.

Go to your local Home Depot. There is a company they deal with that make pre-assembled glass block windows. Check your size and go to the millwork desk and see if one of the pre-built units will work

New window question

I would like to open an additional window about five feet from another window - matching size. The wall is made of 8" thick concrete block. First I need to cut an opening on the wall, but I am not sure what size I need to make it. If I measure the opening of the other window (the wall opening size) I assume this is what I need to do to match it. What is the proper way to create such a hole? Do I chisel out a "rough" opening that is not exactly square and plumb, then build it back up with new concrete? Or do I find a way to cut the rectangular hole precisely with specialty mansory saw? New Construction Windows?

I have been searching the net to replace our old windows but everything is about replacement windows. Our frames and sills are total junk so best thing for us is new construction windows. Can anyone recommend who makes a decent new costruction window? Our local hardware store carries a line called Alliance....I have not asked the price of these windows yet, though most of our windows are standard size we have 4 windows that are not, they aew about 31X34 so we may have to have these custom made? also anyway to get prices online? Most site I go to want my contact info....I just want to get prices at the moment.
