Unhappy wall around alumin windows

I have taken off bubbling paper and paper from inside of window. There are two or three crackes that have let in moisture that has turned wall black. I cleaned and sanded the edges but what do I use to seal the cracked in the wall. One of the crackes is on the right side of the window and the other is under it. Not sure what steps to take to insure no more leaking???? This window was put in real rought I mean sloppy job. There is a space of 1/4 from the frame to the ledge of the window frame. This is all inside of the house.
Can anyone help. it shouldn't be to difficult of a job but I'm unsure of what is next.

thank u
