Hi All, I live in NYC where there is constant development and the Condo I just purchased currently has a window that is blocked off by a new adjacent building. I doubt there will be any airflow or precipitation issues as my building is 4 floors high and I am on the 3rd floor. Wanted some informed opinions since I want to reclaim that space! 1. Just dry-wall over it and extend the existing wall (is this against code?) 2. Remove window and seal it? (brick?) Thanks! I spend so much time reading and searching as a new home owner!

What I have: a pressed board siding covered with 1/2" foam insulation and vinyl siding on top. I'm about to replace my front door with the prehung unit that has the brick molding. Walls are walls are 2x4 construction. My concern is not only the door frame depth but also a depth of the brick molding. If I cut vinyl-foam-board siding all the way down to the sheeting, the door is going to be too deep down. As far as the inside goes, I guess I could always use an internal jamb extender or drywall return but isn't a placing of the brick mold all the way down to a sheeting the right way to do it? Does anyone know the right way do this? I've installed a few doors in my life but never had to deal with the double siding issue before. Thank you in advance
