47" Raw Clearance ~ Please Help

I just moved into my new home, and the doorway between the foyer and study/den is 47" wide. I would like to hang french or bi-fold doors to enclose. I live in Central Florida, so it'll be nice to have something with glass. My research shows that the only option is to get a 48" accordian door. I do not want accordian as it is out-dated (in my opinion) and it doesn't feature any windows. Please advise if there is a company/store that sells french or bi-fold doors that are less than 24" in width. It seems that I'll need something between 22" to 23"? Thank you for any and all advise.

Unusual opening size, that is normally for by-pass doors. But you could still use that opening and cut down each side of each door, or order special sized doors(get a prehung set and avoid the hassle of setting hinges). If you feel adventurous, remove the trim on one side so you can actually measure the rough opening. It might just be large enough.

Thank you Bill. I think the logical way to go is for me to trip both sides of both doors. But if I went that route, I won't be able to get pre-hung? Sounds like I'll have to special order.

As I suggested above, remove the trim from one side of the door opening to see what the actual rough opening is.

There is no trim/moulding around the openeing, just sheet rock. I'd have to install the doors to the sheet rock (hence getting pre-hung) and trim around afterward.

Removing the sheetrock [on each side] will gain you 1" You will also need to remove the cornerbead but hopefully your casing will be wide enough to cover any damage to the drywall finish.
