Storm/Screen Door help
Hi all, I was hoping to get some help on storm doors.
I have 3 anderson storm glass/screen doors on my house. All 3 have the actuators/snubbers that slow the door down when closing. Where the actuators mount to the door frame on all 3 doors is a vinyl wrapped 1x3 (I'm eyeballing that size but that looks about right). All 3 of my storm doors thought have cracked out this frame where the actuator attaches to the wood. Right now I have removed the actuators from the doors to prevent further damage.
I didn't install these, they were here when we bought the house, they weren't cracked before so it's been in the last year and a half since we have been here. It can get windy out in the country where I live but we don't just let the door fly free in the wind either.
I'm trying to figure out what the problem is and what I can do to rectify it. I'm guessing there needs to be a beefier frame for the actuators to mount too? Would two actuators per door be the answer, one top and bottom?
Is this vinyl wrapped wood frame something I need to put back in, or should it be a stronger wood that is painted. I don't mind tearing this stuff out and putting something else in, I just don't want to have to do this job again in 6 months, any ideas.
Thanks much.

Remove the screws from the door closers, they are likely 3/4-1". You need to replace those screws with 2 1/2-3" screws that reach into the house framing. That will reduce(for very windy areas) or stop the trim cracking.
