Interior fire rated door for furnace room

I am in the process of finishing my basement. One of the rooms in a utility room (ie, furnace and hot water heater). As per my town code, this room needs a fire rated door (45 minutes). Most of the fire rated doors I've seen seem like exterior doors. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fire rated door for indoors? The opening is roughed for a 30" door. The other doors will be 6 panel solid doors (Home Depot specials).

Thanks in advance.

The door you want will likely be special order, but they certainly make interior fire doors- basically solid gypsum with a wood veneer. They weigh a ton.

I would assume that if your code requires a fire door, the jamb would need to be steel.

Xsleeper provided one option. Both FRP and Hollow Metal 6 panel 45 min rated doors are available for residential construction. If needed for ventilation, any can be fitted with a fusible link louver.

I went to my local lumber yard. They could order me a 6 panel Masonite door, a steel door, or a flat wood door.

As I said, I was hoping to get a door to match the other doors, especailly since there will be another door right next to that one. My plan for the other doors was to stain them with clear polyurethane.

So, my options are:
--to get wood, but a different look
--get Masonite, and try to somehow match with paint the look of a clear stain.
--keep looking.

If I knew a 6 panel wood fire rated door was available, I'd keep looking.

As always, any opinions are appreciated.

You seem to have a problem locating a 45 min 6 panel wood door. This style of wood door is available in both true style & rail and molded panel.

There are many manufactures to choose from. Search string: wdma. Click >directory >windows & doors >select “style & rail” or “molded panel” >fire rated.

Based on your statements my choice for you, search string: “Fire Door Offering Grid”
Spend some time. Notice that they offer many veneers as well as paint grade. Notice that they offer rated veneered wood jambs also. Notice that they have a dealer locater by zip code. Notice that they have a design tool. Try TS6000 for starters.

All of the companies listed conform to AMA standards. Some offer various product lines, from cheap to quality. Others offer uncompromising quality only.
