PreHung Interior Door Too Long?
I am trying to replace interior door in me house. Jamb was damaged as was door. Removed door and jamb. Have a rough opening of 32X80. All the prehung doors I have found at local hardware stores are for 32X82 opening.
Can I trim a couple inches off the bottom of frame and door? Or, do I have to special order door for my opening?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Trim it?
Hi oneintruder
Sure you can trim it...Carefully! Measure how much the door needs to be trimmed from the bottom, put a strip of painters tape on the door, mark the cut line on the tape. Then score it several times with a sharp utility knife. Put a fine tooth blade (I like a plywood blade for hollow doors) on your circular saw and cut just to the waste side of the line. This will help reduce splintering,
You'll have to peel the door skin away from the piece you cut off, and re-use the wood that was inside to reinforce the bottom of the door. Wood glue and clamps for a couple of hours will do it.
Trim the frame as you need to, then hang the door.
Remember, you'll probably need to trim the door a bit more than the frame, depending on your floor coverings.
