Need to trim 2/16" off the side of interior door

... so that it can fit in the existing jamb. I've thought about sanding or using a planer, but am looking to find something easier with straighter results. Any suggestions?

Are the hinges already flush with the jamb and the edge of the door? If not, you might get the clearance you need by making them so. Otherwise, I would probably use a table saw to trim the edge of the door, then sand, and probably on the hinge edge unless the open edge is presently rough or damaged. Cutting away any of the open edge could give you problems with the depth/setback of the doorknob and bolt.

The hinges are already flush. I'll run it through the table saw and cut off the from the side w/o the knob.
