Replaced Hinges

Hi,

I replaced my closet door hinges (double doors, open out)with new hinges same size and somehow lost the clearance between the doors, making them next to impossible to close both doors. Does this make sense?

Hinges

Sounds like the mortises for attaching the hinges to the doors are not deep enough. Check the clearance between the doors and the side jambs. Has it increased? If so, cut the mortises deeper. This will increase the clearance where the doors meet and reduce the clearance at the side jambs.

It makes sense if (1) the gages of the hinges differ (2) hinge swagging differs (3) the hinge pockets weren't scraped free of debris before installing identical hinges. What Wirepuller38 said.

Addition of home office - door width/height?

I'm going to wall off a home office for my wife and would like to frame it such that an interior door to the office could be installed if/when one is desired at a later date. What width and height dimension should I frame out the opening so it would accept one of those standard prehung doors if required in the future? Thanks WayneRead More

OK I was not too impressed with the Anderson slider. Same with the Pellas. 8ft wide standard height. It a lower level door out to our backyard and something we would use all year round. Like a familyroom. I really liked the triple locking system, thicker base rail and overall construction! The local hardware is quoting me over [U][B]$3,200+ [/B][/U] bucks. Is this the going rate or should I shop around some more? Can anyone give me a comparable company with the equivalent quality? thanks for any input.Read More
