Hanging interior solid pine doors

I am replacing all my interior bedroom doors which are currently the light hollow doors which probably weight 20-30 pounds at most. I have bought solid pine doors (just the door NO jamb) and these weight alot more (75 pounds??). My question is:

Can I get away with 2 hinges per door if I go with longer screws. Or do I need to put 3 hinges per door. Is there any fancy formula out there for door weight vs. size.

To avoid problems later on, go with 3 hinges.

OK I was not too impressed with the Anderson slider. Same with the Pellas. 8ft wide standard height. It a lower level door out to our backyard and something we would use all year round. Like a familyroom. I really liked the triple locking system, thicker base rail and overall construction! The local hardware is quoting me over [U][B]$3,200+ [/B][/U] bucks. Is this the going rate or should I shop around some more? Can anyone give me a comparable company with the equivalent quality? thanks for any input.Read More

Installing Storm door with no instrucitons

We bought a house that has no storm door on the back door. We found one in the shed that has never been used and it doesn't even have a handel on it. It has a frame that we will have to install first. The door and frame are slightly too wide and tall for the opening. I actually told my husband to pull the frame from the top of the outside of the doorway, when he did there was flashing that was attached underneath the siding. We stopped because we couldn't pull it out and didn't want to mess up the siding. Can we just cut the flashing down so it won't interfere with the the frame? And do we just cut the frame and the door down to size with a hacksaw? I want to use this door. Where should we start, please be very specific and give me step by step. Thanks!Read More
