Installing Non-Opening Exterior Doors
We are hoping to order and install 3 patio doors this spring. One of them will be used as a door, but the other 2 will act more as windows and will not be able to open. We're ordering a prehung door for the door that will open, but I'm curious what I should order for the 2 doors that will that will not open. If I order just the slabs, how do I install those so that they are locked in there? Or should I order them prehung, but made so that they don't open? Thanks for any suggestions!

It will greatly depend on the manufacturer.
Brands like Andersen, Pella, Marvin, etc, will sell a fixed panel single door in the frame, all nice and sealed up. Brands like Masonite may not.
You may be able to order one with out the bore for the handleset, then you could just square it in the frame and drive screws thru the into the slab. The problem is you still have the weatherstrip and sweep at the bottom to contend with.
What brands are you considering?

We haven't settled on any particular door yet, but one that I was looking at was from Thermatru (http://www.thermatru.com/CatalogDeta...ory=SS-EP-CLG). I'll contact the manufacturer and see what my options are. Thanks Vic!

Didn't see a fixed option, but who knows. Whateve you get make sure to go with Lo E glass, it's worth the little extra they charge.

Doors
Are all three side by side as a unit? Sounds like a 9-foot patio unit with a working door and two fixed door panels.

Wirepuller, I didn't think to ask that. Just the way I read the post i guess. The Therma Tru website shows that, and its a common configuration, so I guess I just dismissed it.

They are 3 separate doors so the 9 foot patio unit won't work. My wife like the look of the door without the door knob/locks so that's why I'm leaning towards the fixed panel solutions for the 2 non-opening doors. Locking all 3 would certainly work as well though. Thanks for all the help!
